He speaks

Justice Thomas spoke at the court for the first time in about a decade. He asked about a gun case:

Thomas asked the Justice Department lawyer defending the governments prosecution whether the violation of any other law suspends a persons constitutional rights

I can only think of some states’ voting laws, but that’s not federal.

State law violating any Constitutional right makes it a Federal case.

He asked if any other misdemeanors could suspend a constitutional right. I don’t know of any misdemeanant voting restrictions.

One question in a decade, and, misquoted.

I don’t blame him for not speaking. I can only imagine what must be going through his mind listening to one lawyer after another that should all be strung up. Having somebody near to his originalism fill the vacancy would sweet.

What does it matter? When everyone stays home and won’t vote for Trump because they don’t like him it won’t matter what Thomas thinks when Hillary has already appointed Scalia’s replacement to overturn the Second Amendment 5-4.

    Embrace the suck.

  5. Deaf Smith Says:

The only thing I don’t like about the law were if you are convicted of a felony you lose your rights is that fact there is NO RECOURSE now. They defunded the restoration of citizens rights and that is just totally WRONG.

Yes there are some people who need to be stripped of all their rights permanently, but many do turn their lives around and they should be given back their rights.

Justice Thomas’ question is timely and historic. In the near future, expect any rights to be exercisable only with preapproval from the government, with a huge tax or fine or penalty otherwise.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
