Registration leads to confiscation

With added “journalism”

Actual headline: Gun nut charged after cops find distrubing arsenal near school

As to how it happened:

Police were able to stumble upon the stockpile after officers conducted an administrative pistol licensee review at Shous apartment on Monday, prosecutors said.

All of his weapons were “licensed”. Lot of good that did. Of course, it’s NY.

What is a “disturbing arsenal”? Do the guns stay up late at night, carousing with the ammo and listening to loud music?

Being that this is New York, what is Donald Trump doing, with all his powerful connections, to reinforce gun rights there?

  2. skidmark Says:

Sorry, but no sympathy from here. The laws have been in place for some time. The guy knew (or should have known) what those laws were. He pretty much did this to himself, and his arrogance is going to cost him.

As for what those laws are – that’s another discussion.

    stay safe.

  3. Ken in NH Says:

OMG! It was in plain sight and near a school! Won’t you think of the children walking home and randomly breaking into his apartment? They might see all that ammo and gun powder and, um, have impure thoughts or something.

  4. Garibaldi Says:

OK Let me play devil’s advocate here please.

How many people can honestly say they wouldn’t mind living in the apartment right next door to this guy, with him having all that gunpowder in there?

  5. Fred Says:

’round these parts he would be looking to plus up a few spots and then go ahead and double it all. He was on his way to a modest level if you ask me.

  6. Robert Says:

What exactly is this guy being charged with? The article doesn’t seem to specify…just some vague bullshit about having an arsenal.

  7. Bruce Says:

I dunno, it’s a bit more than I have, but only because gun powder has been a real PITA to stock up on since Gun Dealer of the Century was elected. I’d worry about it if he was a smoker or liked candles a lot.

  8. Mr Evilwrench Says:

Well, it is the new york compost, so they’re gonna wrench up max torque on the spin, but powder in that quantity needs some special storage, even at the retail level. Not that I’d expect any trouble if he kept his containers closed.

If they came to my place, it would probably thin the herd a little just from PSH; I’m a couple of blocks from an elementary school with a similar ammo stock and a whole lot more guns than that. Shhhhh! Don’t tell anyone, but none of them is registered. Well, us being in America and not having any registration and all.

  9. skidmark Says:

    @Robert –

Here’s what they said he had (comments in brackets[] are mine):

“In total, he was caught with 14 licensed handguns; two loaded, licensed shotguns; one licensed rifle; approximately 45,000 rounds of ammunition for a variety of weapons [law says only 200 rounds total]; 225 pounds of smokeless gun powder stored in various containers and open to view; unassembled parts for an AR-10 and AR-15 assault rifles[AR-style is verboten, says the law], three high-capacity magazines [also verboten – no grandfathering of pre-ban ones] — one fully loaded with 20 rounds [max capacity is 10] and each capable of holding in excess of ten rounds [see above] of .308 caliber ammunition — two Kevlar body armor vests, six Kevlar armor plates, one ammunition press, numerous primers, empty cartridges [they count in your 200-round limit], and several other devices and components related to weapons ammunition.”

So, yeah – an all-around scofflaw.

    stay safe.

  10. Wally Says:

What the Hell is an administrative pistol licensee review ?

  11. Jim W Says:

It sounds like all his weapons were licensed and they used his legal reloading activities as grounds for a search warrant, which uncovered AR-15 parts.

So basically he has to get a lawyer to beat the warrant (which will depend heavily on whether the judge feels like it and how badly the supporting affidavit was written. “We saw containers of gunpowder, so we know he’s a gun nut and gun nuts usually have illegal gun parts that we could arrest him for, so there’s your probable cause.”

Basically he’s being railroaded for being a gun owner, there’s no two ways about it.

  12. rickn8or Says:

    $250,000 bail.

    WTFF??

  13. Waher Says:

I hope he gets a good lawyer and files a counter-suit for civil rights violations and harassment.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
