And it happened again

Another open carrier robbed of his gun.

This is the third case I know of. Statistically insignificant but worth noting.

    Situational Awareness!

If you don’t flash your cash, you may be robbed, but it will be random, you won’t be -targeted for that cash-.

Same principle goes for anything of value. Doesn’t mean you “deserve to be robbed”, nor does concealing a valuable mean you won’t get robbed for some other reason, but at least you 100% cannot be robbed -for a particular item- if no one knows you have it.

The frequent denial of this inarguable fact and its application to the “should I OC or not” calculation, or the near-constant deflection to the “so I deserve to be robbed” and/or “could be robbed anyway” strawmen is one of my big beefs with religious OC-ers.

To be fair I know of at least one concealed carrier who was robbed in Philly.

  4. Sebastian Says:

The guy in Philly was printing. He was poorly concealing.

Gee guys- when I brought up the risk of getting your OC gun swiped at a Certain Famous Internet OC Dude’s website, I got called an agent of Sarah Brady… cuz that never happened.

If ya just gotta d open carry at least get a class 2 retention holster.

  8. Robert Says:

Yeah, what Fred said. “Situational Awareness”. Even if I wasn’t carrying at all, open or concealed, and two guys (regardless of race) approach me from behind, I am going to make a casual move to either cross the street, lateral or something to see if they are just casually walking behind me or something else.

I find interesting the fact that he had two guys demanding his gun and it was not already out of the holster in his hand? Don’t carry it if you can’t use it.

While I am of the firm belief that the Constitution provides that I can carry what I want, when I want, and how I want unless and until I prove otherwise, I just don’t know why, in most situations, one would want to OC.

I mean if it’s intended as a visual deterrent at least be aware of what and who is around you and have it at the ready if you ID a potential threat. And if it’s to look badass, then brother you ain’t, and you probably shouldn’t be carrying at all. Other than that, why would you want to make public what otherwise BG’s would have to guess about, and scare all the blue people in the process? You don’t go around with your wallet or your stash hanging out do you? So why?

I’ll continue to do my best to protect all of my Constitutional rights, but that doesn’t mean they all have to be randomly and constantly flaunted; quite the contrary, they are there for when they are needed…and I prefer to reserve them for those times. YMMV of course, and that’s fine by me, but I still don’t get it.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
