Chicks and guns

CNN Money:

Women are buying handguns in record numbers — especially weapons that are small enough to conceal.

But they are frustrated by the lack of firearm accessories catering to them. So some are starting companies of their own to tailor products to women.

And they don’t mean making them in pink. Here’s the company website.

I would have said “Be ready to make some wardrobe modifications” (I said it just yesterday) but that’s pretty cool. If it makes carrying easier, and therefore more likely, it’s a good thing.

  2. Fred Says:

My best option is let them do what they do. Why would anybody be surprised, after all the little black dress isn’t about the dress it’s about everything else. I sure ain’t gonna tell them what shoes to wear and I’m not telling them what holster to use either. They will come up some pretty cool stuff, you watch.

The new gen of .380’s is tailor made for CC, and not just for females, but they definitely are a prime mover for them. And nothing wrong with pink, purple, or Tiffany blue ones; why should guns be different from cars? Both are useful, pretty, and potentially deadly.

  4. Mr Evilwrench Says:

Pfft. I bought one of those little Kimber Belair .380s for deep conceal, because it’s pretty. My wife likes it, too. I even did the roll marks on my old Para .45 in hot pink.

I bought her one of those concealment purses for her birthday; she’s not really shaped for any holsters we’ve seen. We have a local outfit that make some that are really nice purses in their own right. I let her pick it out; shopping for that stuff makes me go catatonic.

When a man is in charge of designing a product and he wants to make it appealing to women, but he doesn’t actually know any women he can ask about what they might want in that product he paints it pink.

There have been guns and tools and even famously a very-failed car from the 1950s.

  6. Zendo Deb Says:

That “Woman’s Car” – was the 1955 and 56 Dodge La Femme. No one knows how many were built, as few as 300 or as many as 1100. Either way, adding lots of pink and frills didn’t make it the car women wanted to drive.

I recall the “Passionate Pink” Mustang of 1968 or so. It was pink, like Pink Panther pink, fiberglass insulation pink. Another failure in the pinkification “design for females” category.

Zendo Deb, more misguided marketing than misogyny or chauvinism…witness all the crap being pumped out in flat earth, camo, desert tan, and tacti-black apparently aimed at all the manly men and wannabe warriors/mall cops.

  9. JTC Says:

That said, I actually like the green/black LCP in my case right now, and sell the piss out of pink and blue ones…I’m even good with orange as the new black as long as it’s their choice and not mine.

Good for the ladies! I love real (not crony) capitalism!

  11. Ellen Says:

Once, many years ago, I was in the market for a condo. I was shown one which must have belonged to a Mary Kay sales leader. Pink. Pink rug, pink walls and ceiling, pink sinks, pink toilets …

The poor devil of a realtor was desperate to get rid of it, but even lowering the price maybe 20% didn’t seem to do the job.

  12. SD3 Says:

If one thing is true about America: they don’t produce or sell *ANYTHING* for women.

No department stores, no salons, no cafes, no shoes, NOTHING!!!!!!!
When will the awful patriarchy just go somewhere and DIE!!!!!!!!!

  13. John Hardin Says:

But but but… I thought that Narrative was that the number of gun owners in the US is getting smaller every year, and the increasing number of background checks is all from current gun owners buying more and more and more guns!

I was surprised to see that article on CNN.

  14. JTC Says:

Speaking of BC’s, today the Fla FPP NICS was taking 20-25 minutes…overwhelming volume or more backdoor gun control?

  15. SD3 Says:

    Heh. He said “backdoor”. Heh.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
