Social Media Fail

First up, ATF:

I laughed hard. Up next, The White House lied:

I purchased a riflevia an Internet site, however, I had to take delivery in person through an FFL dealer and complete all required Federal documentation. This was no different than if I conducted the transaction at a conventional gun store.

I don’t get the outcry regarding Internet gun sales. They’re the same as a conventional purchase.

  2. The Freeholder Says:

Ah, MAJMike, but you understand and are versed on how the system actually works. That makes you probably one in 100. Most people believe whatever those beautiful people in that nice box tell them–without question. “It must be true, or they wouldn’t put it on TV/the Internets.” I have had to explain in detail to most of my family just how firearms laws actually work in this country. When I get into the North Carolina pistol permit system and just how much fun it is to buy a pistol in NC (unless you have you concealed carry permit), most of them refuse to believe it, because the TV has told them how easy it is. Why, if you just drive by a gun show those guns will just be jumping right into your car! SHM.

  3. The Freeholder Says:

Sorry, I meant “SMH”. Long day in the salt mines.

  4. The Jack Says:

Freeholder: Indeed. I’ve had people flat out tell me that NYC *doesn’t* deny permits to the commoners and that the whole idea of “May Issue” is just an exaggeration the NRA uses as a talking point.

And these are often the same people who are against concealed carry.

Course they *also* didn’t believe that most all US states had some form of carry. This was when Wisconsin got their carry law, and again when Illinois got theirs.

  5. Mr Evilwrench Says:

Well, maybe the violent felon can buy the weapon on the internet with no background check, but taking delivery requires some law violatin’ from some other people.

  6. Jimmie Says:

I want to know where on the internet you can buy guns without a background check. I’ve got a dozen or so online and had to spend $20 to $30 every time for a background check to pick it up.

  7. emdfl Says:

So the whnog and his media whores are lying whores (as usual) QUEL SURPRISE!!!1!!1!

  8. mikee Says:

Nobody has yet answered the question posed in the posted Twitter feed.

If you are the ATF and want to sell guns to obvious, known straw buyers in the US, for illegal delivery by those illegal straw buyers to Mexican drug cartels, with no way to track or control the weapons once they cross the border, and not even any notice to the Mexican government that the program is underway, in order to support the Obama administration’s efforts to impose draconian gun buying restrictions on US citizens, you as the ATF do NOT need to be a Federal Firearm Licensee, because you as the ATF can, and did, pressure actual FFL-holding businesses to sell to the illegal straw buyers, over their objections, under threat of punitive actions by the ATF if the business does not do the illegal sales.

Why and how? Because ATF! “Shut up,” ATF explained.

    Hope that helps.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
