It’s either illegal or legal depending on which part of the internet you trust. There’s also a 50% chance it was filmed in Canada, a 50% chance that it was filmed in the U.S. and a 50% chance that it’s a really good SFX job.

Why would it be illegal? Has some gun control been passed that bans the use of innovation? Remember th Remington electronic ignition ammo and guns a few years back? Same thing. Not automated, not a spring gun, not full auto. Electronic sights? I don’t see anything illegal.
That said, it probably is.

AOW? It’s a better question for the extreme bench-resters with their 30 lb., bolted-down, miniaturized howitzers, with their electronic firing mechanisms, I think.

But did it hit a target? The lack of a target in the video is telling. The lightweight flier is a very unstable weapon platform.
I’d like to see the targeting video downlink.

I’m not a lawyer, but I’ll go with the illegal because electronic activation of a trigger makes it effectively converted to fire more than once with a single press.

Would depend entirely on whether or not the pistol could be fired more than once per button/lever/etc. actuation on the controller.

The danger of this video and the device therein is not that drong guns will become commonly used, but that some legistard will spur legislative and regulatory oppression of all other users of drones in a vain attempt to reassure the bleating public that such dangerous things can’t be done, because there is a law against doing them.
I for one eagerly await the video of a delivery drone capable of dropping a 1-gallon Molotov cocktail atop any building, vehicle, or crowd. That video will make this one look like a kid with a BB gun.

Illegal in US (only referencing law here, not my own opinion):
– FAA regs will define this as a “civilian aircraft”, and USC prohibits ‘arming of civilian aircraft”
-or-
– FAA regs will define this as a “commercial aircraft”, and that modification now provides it with a “business purpose” – delivering a bullet.
Can’t win for losing.
