Unequivocally, the finest mechanical pool dolphin I’ve ever seen!

Neon Madman beat me to it. That is a nice cement pond.

Damn, if I’da known you wanted one of them damn things you could have had mine for free, just dig it up and take it home!

Seriously, you know the old saw about a boat being a hole in the water you pour money into, and the two best days of owning one being the day you bought it and the day you sold it? Yeah, like that X 100. And the worst part, not only can you not sell it when you find out it is a big expensive hole in the ground that after a while never gets used and you have to CONTINUOUSLY pour money into and jacks up your insurance, but it will COST you thousands more to fill it in and make it go away…and anymore when you sell your house it DETRACTS from value!

No shit, worst “home improvement” and investment (make that divestment) I ever made…and I’m in FLA!

But, you still have young kids and they will enjoy it for a while, use it as much as you can before they get too cool for the pool. And it is pretty, so is ours, but believe me when I say, there will come a day…

If you are new to pools check out Troublefreepool.com.
You will save $$ and never need to go to the pool store.

    This is not spam!

  9. HL Says:

Nice! But can we see more pics of the countertops, please?

Considering his line of work, he coulda been doing this for a customer, but who knows.

  11. Old NFO Says:

Gotta agree, not fun over the long term…

  12. the pawnbroker Says:

“…he coulda been doing this for a customer,”

Nah, that’s for his babies, and I do understand the sentiment, I’m just a little (okay a lot) bitter because by the time we could afford it, the young’uns were almost too old to get our money’s worth, and it’s the permanence and unending hassle that’s the worst.

Plus, if he built this for a customer, that customer would almost certainly come looking to kill him a few years down the road, as I have considered doing to my (former) friend the pool builder. JK, but barely.

I watched my dad put our pool in when I was 10. I grew up maintaining it. I moved out when I was 18 and bought the house when I was 28. I have been maintaining it for 38 years now. I will admit it does cost money but it is NOT a money pit. I have painted it twice and replaced the pump/filter once in that time. About $1500.00 total cost. I spend between $400.00 and $600.00 a season (late May- Early September) in electricity and chemicals. It all depends on the weather and what I have left from the previous year.
I’m sure you will enjoy it for many years to come.Congrats!!
On that note, I think I will go take a dip! 🙂

  14. Chris L. Says:

Oh and I forgot to mention… I have a 20000 gallon water reserve locked up in my back yard! 😉

  15. Will Says:

I’m thinking it looks like a “Minion” side profile. I see goggles… Just needs some yellow paint, and some detailing…

  16. NotClauswitz Says:

    Fire up the Tiki torches!

  17. Jerry Says:

Aw shucks, that’s what I do for a living.

  18. Chas Says:

Let me say something that is politically correct:

    Bizz oozz! Bizz oozz!

    Bumyana quana dingo!

Note the lack of objection from the Obango white house. Stand by to be paved over. Booyah. No further comments.

Showing my age here. I think it looks like a Schmoo.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
