For a CNN’er Russell did a pretty good job of remaining objective in her reporting and keeping her leanings private, and I don’t know what her views toward guns rights were, but I bet I can accurately guess them now.
Unless of course she’s of the Obama/Bloomie school of “rights for me but not for thee”.

Judging by his age, hubby probably was VN-era or immediately post-VN SF, so the gun(s) were probably .45s, and the editor missed a typo.

I remember seeing her on one of the late night shows…letterman, i think it was….like 20 years ago when she was still the Headline News anchor.
She’s sitting there in a dress that’s just above her knees with her legs crossed, and I am looking at where her dress meets her thighs saying “What is that? Is that a camera, under her dress, pointed at the audience? What the…” and then she starts talking about how she’s a private investigator and stands up and unholsters the pistol she’s been wearing in a thigh holster.
The thing I thought was a camera lens was the fiery death end of a barrel.
I wish I could find it on youtube but that was before the internet.

Yesterday I realized that if “smart guns” were mandatory they’d have lost the fight. She handed him her purse with her gun to use, as his was across the room. Without that subterfuge to get the first defensive shot off one of them would have had to make an open move while covered.
