Marriage equality: Sharing a felony

In New Jersey, a man was denied a gun permit because his wife is a convicted felon, accused of domestic violence. Well, he shouldn’t be allowed to vote either.

Oddly enough that sounds like a good justification for having the guns in the first place.

The man had said he would keep the guns locked up and out of his wife’s control – suggests she lives with him and they’re not for defense against her.

It’s a “constructive possession” argument they made against him.

Which is lame, especially as I understand Supreme Court precedent as of now.

It’s possible that there are at least a few law enforcement officers in NJ who share home with a spouse that is a convicted felon? Let’s see if this ruling applies to them and they are stripped of their weapons.

Sounds like a first rate case for SAF .

Pretty sure this was settled at a Federal Level with a Florida case. Cannot remember which one though!

I actually believe in closely tying the right to vote with the right to possess and carry firearms. Anyone fit to vote is fit to own firearms. Anyone not fit to own firearms is not fit to vote. When one reaches voting age an NCIS background check is performed and if there are no problems a photo ID card is issued which one presents when going to the polls or going to the gunshop. With this ID one can buy as many firearms as they wish without subsequent background checks. If convicted of a felony or tossed into the loony bin your ID card is repossessed. The ID could even be used for private sales thereby achieving the nirvana of universal background checks without the fear of a national gun owner database.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
