Open government

In The County (my The County), the commissioner Chair decided to clear the room of any citizens without seats. Pretty disgraceful.

I’d bring a folding chair to the next meeting.

Is there a “seat clause” in the state constitution then?

And people complied why? Sounds like every other “Do as you’re told!” “Okay” (hangs head meekly).

If you really want to intimidate the commissioners, wear matching T-shirts with legible logos, supporting your cause, printed on the front.

My neighborhood HOA did this quite by accident at a county meeting here in TX, when the HOA secretary brought some new neighborhood T-shirts to the meeting to hand out as many as possible instead of having us come by her house to get them.

The commissioners saw 25 or 30 similar shirts in the audience and were visibly disconcerted, even asking the first speaker in a shirt if our group came, well, as an organized group, in support of our zoning request. The speaker immediately said, “Yes, but we didn’t have T-shirts enough for everyone here supporting our cause!”

We got our zoning issue approved promptly.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
