Improvements to make:
– Backpack mounted fuel tank for marching band
– Burner ring around bell end instead of on a spike
– Automatic mode for moderate flame projection when upward inclined
– “En Flambe” manual mode for heckler suppression up for 30 feet away
Also, we need a trumpet version using blue alcohol flames, and a tuba version that can shoot flaming vortex rings.

The video takes place on the University of Texas at Austin campus; the tall building seen behind the band is the tower made infamous by Charles Whitman.
And as an Aggie, I am proud the tea sips found a way to spice up their band, even though it was a foreigner who came up with the concept.
Full disclosure: my daughter attends UT. She has always been a rebellious lass.

I thought we were talking about the first UT. The one founded in 1794. Texas is good too, though.

would the announcement of a new invention be accompanied by a condemnation of budget cuts.
This is an enhancement of the traditional proper use of the sackbut: leading parades. Imagine what 76 of these could do, properly arrayed and deployed, to an unruly populace. As Franklin put it, cheaper than a ship-of-the-line.
