So, there’s these riots in Baltimore

No doubt a gun control success story. But a discussion of riot control legalities. Also, be brave. Don’t worry. But do.

As an aside, I’m guessing that firing into a crowd is, legally, not good. However, if someone in that crowd is clearly a threat, I’d say that’s justifiable. IANAL*

I think back to the LA riots in the early 90’s when the police abandoned the city. Many buildings and businesses were damaged, looted and burned, but not those of some Korean owners who guarded their property with AK-47’s. I suppose if that happened in the gun control utopia of Baltimore, THEN the police would’ve been ordered back in to put a stop to it.

The best advice in the replies to that article? Find out what the police use, and use it yourself — same ammunition, and it won’t hurt to use the same model of gun. When the ‘Justice Department’ arrives, they will be looking to destroy the police; any slugs you may have dispensed will be gathered as evidence of police misdeeds.

Doesn’t work as well if you’re using something different.

Hold a gun up to display that you are armed and that looters should reconsider:

    1) there is no “brandishing law per se in MD, AFAIK, but…

    2) you’ll likely be filmed by dozens of bystanders, and…

    3) weeks later the police come around and try to make “assault” charges stick.

So far I haven’t seen any rooftop Koreans. I don’t expect to.

I have heard of at least one case where one business that was untouched had someone with a shotgun in it.

I’ve had the thought that a “public-spirited” thing that gun owners could do would be to “adopt” a business in their community. This would consist of promising a business owner that if something like this were going down, you promise to come sit in their shop with your shotgun. Rotate as necessary for those who work.

I know there’s all sorts of legal BS that would make this difficult/risky (who’s liable if something happens, badly written “brandishing” laws etc. etc.) but I found the idea appealing.

Yeah, like I said, Standard Mischief. Then the mayor would send in the police to get those bad guys who were ” not giving space to destroy” their property and businesses.

Ron, her words were just twisted.

You have to watch this. It’s a classic case of failing to take responsibility for your actions.

That was done in Ferguson when the grand jury results were released. Cops were pissed, and demanded the group to leave. They stayed. May have been part of the group that was at the Bundy Ranch standoff. III%, or Oathkeepers, I think. One of them, anyway.

  8. Ron W Says:

@Standard Mischief, How can she deny saying that with a straight face the next day??!! I mean, the best she could do is to claim she misspoke or didn’t mean to say it!!

  9. SPQR Says:

Ron, if you accurately quote her, you are a racist.

  10. Ron W Says:

Then no self respecting media personality will interview her, play the video and ask her to comment less they be labeled as a racist.

The arrest of Gray may also have been a success for knife control.

Probably very similar to the kershaw in my pocket right now, or the one Uncle photo’d himself wearing in a recent post.

My EDC knife is a CRKT M16-14SF. Guess I’ll remain in Texas and let Baltimore fester in its own puss.

    MAJMike,
We cannot fully enjoy our rights when others’ rights are in peril.
    Or something

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
