Be sure of your target and what’s, err, under it

A big fireball at a gun range that injured more than a dozen. Caused by heavy equipment hitting a gas line.

I’m trying to wrap my head around the concept of a natural gas pipeline running through a firing range. I know I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed but even I’d realize that this is not a good idea.

Knowing how these things normally work, the sheriff probably bought the land after the pipeline was installed. He got told, “Ok, the right of way says you cant put any structures in this area.” He shruged and told his construction crew “So a berm isn’t a structure, so pile it up over there.”
I mean, if it was buried deep enough, it would be safe.
The worst version of “it’s not a building” was a place where they decided that it meant it was the perfect spot for the school football field. Bleachers were put up Juuust outside the right-of-way. *Headdesk*

PG&E says the 12″ line was 40″ deep.
The equipment was a front end loader, smoothing not digging.
Somebody is gonna get yelled at…PG&E?

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
