Your gun sucks

I think right here is every internet argument against the AR-15 since the internet invented AR-15 hate.

“The AR-15 and its parent rifle, the select-fire-capable M4 carbine…”

    Ummm…

  2. Lyle Says:

Aw shoot. I thought it was going to be just a list, published in sarcasm. Apparently the guy is serious. Cooper didn’t like the AR either, calling it the “Poodle Shooter” and saying that an AR is to a real rifle as a banjo is to a guitar. Since I have at least three ARs I can’t be too critical. They are handy, which I believe was the point from the get go, and ~3K fps MV, even if it is a little bullet, can certainly ruin your day.

  3. McThag Says:

    Trolls gotta troll, I suppose.

As Steve noticed “AR-15 and its parent rifle…”

The AR-15 is the parent rifle! Predating the M16 by almost a decade.

  4. Phil Says:

So his arguments are “There’s too much variation in the AR world and that’s hard” then wraps it up by saying the AK has variation so buy carefully?

Hey, I appreciate his service, but methinks his logic needs some examination. His facts aren’t all that reliable either.

  5. SPM Says:

Sounds to me like someone got but hurt in a forum and decided to write a article on it.

  6. Kristophr Says:

The AR pattern sweeps the competition because it is accurate.

But the things that make it accurate don’t need to be only on the AR platform.

    A float-barrelled AK, maybe?

  7. Great Wall of Texas Says:

    I own both.

To the haters of ARs and the haters of AKs, fuck you and your false dichotomy.

    Sinisterly

I wish Facebook was more searchable. Someone penned a quick post that basically said, “This guy can’t get his history straight and thinks 1k rounds is an authoritative test of a platform. Why on earth should I care about what he has to say on the topic?”

I cannot really disagree with that mindset.

  9. Ron W Says:

Since I bought my Russian AK 12 years ago and have a prudent supply of ammo, I’ll stick with it. And so far, ammo has been ubitiquous and affordable. For longer ranges and “punch through” needs, my M1A should suffice.

  10. Jim Brack Says:

I own both (4 of each). Like them all. But if I had to pick just one, with no spare parts available, I’d go with my forged poly and a case of chinese. Slap a red dot on it and call it a day. My home would be well protected.

  11. Adam Says:

I often wonder why people don’t consider “easy to shoot” as a reason why they pick a defensive weapon. I own both, reload for both, and shoot both platforms often but anyone tells me the AK is easier to shoot is a liar. Period. Less felt recoil, lighter, repeat hits are easier. Notice I didn’t say dick about accuracy because for defensive purposes there is a 99% chance engagement is within 50 yards and they are both more than adequate for that. To round out all that, if I get hurt and SHTF, my wife prefers my AR all day long over the AK for most of the reasons I listed earlier.

For civilian defense purposes, I don’t give a $(*)& if you can bury it in sand, freeze it in solid ice, dunk it in the ocean, etc, because its unrealistic. It’s like testing a Honda Civic by taking it mudding and then complaining it couldn’t beat a jacked up Tacoma.

  12. Kristophr Says:

Of course, the Mosin-Nagant is superior to both platforms.

  13. Ron W Says:

    Kristophr,

Mosin Nagants are great rifles, especially for the money; better for absolute reliability, punching through and “reaching out to touch someone”.But if you have mulitiple uninvited guests who are already at close range, I’d rather have an AR or an AK with a mag of 30 rounds.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
