Good

In the hunt to be the 2016 GOP pick, top contenders agree on 1 thing: Guns

  1. Ron W Says:

I suspect there would be various shades of support. Example: George W. Bush was supposedly pro 2nd Amendment, but he supported renewal of the AWB. They should be asked if all gun laws should apply to everyone including government officials and agents according to “the equal protection of the laws” (14th Amendment). Ask them to cite a delegated power that allows the Federal Government to pass or enforce any infringement on the Internet of the people to kep and bear arms. That would tell whether they have even READ that to what they take an oath “to preserve, protect and defend”. And such a question informs as to their attitude which should be, if you are going to be in authority, you must be under authority.

  2. Ron W Says:

Correction: ” any infringement on the right of the people to keep and bear arms…” (Have trouble with this I Pad sometimes)

  3. DocMerlin Says:

Which percent of them are willing to get rid of the NFA/GCA?

  4. Ron W Says:

Good question, Doc! That goes to the “delegated power” question. They would have to find that in Article I of the Constitution among those enumerated powers without which the government may do NOTHING according to the 10th Amendment. Artcle I, section 8:16 does delegate to the Federal Government power ” for governing such part of them (the militia) as may be CALLED INTO ItsvSERVICE AND EMPLOYED”. That is why when the Bill of Rights was added in 1791 “to prevent abuses” that it referenced militia and this narrowly restricted power to only the militia that was in service and employed so that it is clear that the Fedral Government has NO power to violate or infringe on the right of the people to keep and bear (carry) arms.

  5. Lyle Says:

    I believe the word “pretend” has been left out;
“In the hunt to be the 2016 GOP pick, top contenders pretend to agree on 1 thing: Guns”

Political is all about pretending. Once you get your ass into office, then it becomes; “Well sure, I said I supported the second amendment, but I didn’t mean you could keep THOSE guns or THAT ammo! Geeze! Stop being an extremist!”

  6. JTC Says:

Lyle, +1, and they should re-word it:

“…top pretenders contend to agree on 1 thing: Guns”

‘Specially the “out-lier” Christie (make that out-liar Christie)…he’s busy taking back his words, and you know he’s got his fingers crossed behind his back.

  7. Richard Says:

You can’t trust everyone that owns guns but you can’t trust anyone who doesn’t.

  8. Ron W Says:

Anyone who doesn’t trust you with your choice of the means of self defense is NOT to be trusted. And remember, a President is OUR EMPLOYEE who works UNDER our delegated powers. The greater ALWAYS delegates to the lesser. Anyone who presumes to go into that office and use power go take from us what he keeps for himself and the hired guns is UNFIT to serve in the employ of a free and independent people!!!

  9. Knob Creeker Says:

I saw Rand Paul speak at Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot spring 2009. I don’t know of any other national political individuals that have spoken at such an event. I appreciate some politicians speaking at NRA conventions, but to do it at a machine gun shoot shows true support for ALL gun rights!

  10. Patrick Says:

All contenders agree that guns are a proxy for something. Some think guns are a proxy for liberty; others think they are a proxy for the sister-humping hillbillies they must placate in order to win power.

I’d prefer a candidate from the first bunch, please.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
