The party of smaller government

So, it’s legislative season in TN again and what do our fiscally conservative, small government republicans have in store?

No swinging within 1,000 feet of schools, churches or day cares. We need a swinging church!

Laws named after people are usually horrible. I’m guessing laws named after dogs would be worse: Felony to kill a police or emergency dog.

Proposed bill to ban passenger drinking still alive in legislature

Requiring kids to participate in PE.

Mandating ultrasounds before abortions.

Are you RepubliCANs or RepubliCAN’Ts?

We participated in P. E. Every day until high school. It was called recess.

The people who think they can use government to tell you what to do are bi-partisan. Democrats and Republicans, both, at times claim to be infavor of free will, but alas, they are confused and lie to themselves and others.

So it’s okay for them to kick in the wrong door, or whatever, and kill my family pet dog in front of my kids and it’s all “Officer Safety” and “policy and procedure”, But if they kick in my door and their dog goes after one of my kids and I shoot it it’s a felony.

Nice double standard! So we are serfs, peons, peasants to be ruled over.

I’ll start regarding police and rescue dogs as police and rescue personnel when I hear them recite their oath…

Republicans keep promising to rein in big government, but when they get there, they become obsessed with regulating sex and abortion to the exclusion of nearly everything else.
That, IMO, is why the party is on the verge of dying off.

The only good legislative body is a gridlocked legislative body.

If only someone would run on the platform of “will vote no for EVERY BILL and vote yes to overturn previous bills” then they would have my vote and my checkbook.

Is shrinking the size of government even ON the Republican party platform any more? If it is, they are lying!

SOP for lawmakers is lawmaking, regardless of the consonant after their name, that’s just job security.

Protection of Constitutional rights should be the primary mission, and all of that crap runs counter to that…except the last one. And I don’t know the specifics of that one either, but the concept (heh) would seem to be to determine if an unborn is a viable person, and if so to protect its right to not be killed…the ultimate Constitutionally protected right.

    Flame on, I guess. Whatev.

I always thought the Heinlein solution of a House of Repeal was the way to go. Any law, tax, or regulation can be repealed – no filibustering – no vetoes – as long as 1/3 of the House votes to repeal.

Not to hijack the conversation, but it will be interesting to see who all wants to stay home in protest in November of ’16, now that Chuck Schumer will lead the Senate Dems beginning in ’17.

Are they zombies under someone else’s control or are they just stupid? I believe we have come to the point where calling them stupid is to defend them, because if they’re not mind bogglingly stupid then the only other conclusion is that they’re guilty as hell.

I got to get out more. My first thought on reading the no swinging within 1000 feet of schools, churches and daycares was that the war on playgrounds had gone completely nuts.

Are they really willing the risk some kid being tased to death over not dressing out for PE?

When we’re saying “the government should intervene,” we’re saying “an organization with guns should threaten to lock people in cages if they don’t comply with its dictates.”

So, how long till we have bills limiting these high capacity lawmakers? 1 bill a month? 1 bill a term? And no emergency bills.

  16. Ron W Says:

    Azzy,

Below is Artcle I, Sections 1-2 of the Tennessee Constitution Declaration of Rights which ALL Tennessee elected ifficials and agents took an oath to uphold, although it’s likely they are not aware of Thess words:

Section 1. That all power is inherent in the people, and all free governments are founded on their authority, and instituted for their peace, safety, and happiness; for the advancement of those ends they have at all times, an unalienable and indefeasible right to alter, reform, or abolish the government in such manner as they may think proper.

Section 2. That government being instituted for the common benefit, the doctrine of nonresistance against arbitrary power and oppression is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind.

  17. Maxwell Says:

Clicked that first link thinking, “WTF are they gonna do with all the swing-sets on the playgrounds???”

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
