“journalism”

The paper of making up the record gets pretty much everything wrong in trying to paint carry permit holders as violent. Of course, they just took dictation from the Violence Policy Center.

“Police are the single most important factor for reducing crime…”

Looks like Shannon Watts isn’t the only propagandist around here.

Yeah, those times when the police aren’t acting as criminals themselves. Actually, most of them are good guys, but a few of them make the lot look bad. Really bad.

@ Mr Evilwrench: It has absolutely nothing to do with the bad few or the good many. I think it could be very easily argued that cops do absolutely nothing whatsoever to reduce crime. Of all the crimes reported, how many occurred when police were not available or on the scene at that crucial moment, versus how many crimes weren’t committed because a cop was on hand? The former outweighs the latter so much that it’s almost equal to the latter being zero. Look out your window on any given day and you won’t see rapes, arson, murder rioting and looting, or any other crime. Why? Because of police? No. Because most people are like you and me: they don’t want to do those things. And when they do, the presence of the police don’t deter them. Additionally, if police were a deterrent, then we wouldn’t see crimes happening at all. Bad guys are famous for working around cops, not merely vanishing like a puff of wind because good is better than evil. Detectives are ideal for hunting down bad guys who get away. I’m not a detective; I wouldn’t know where to start. But I don’t need a cop who isn’t around to protect me or someone else or guard property when the bad guys come a knockin’. You need you. I need me. Maybe we occasionally watch each other’s backs like good neighbors do. Furthermore, whenever there are more than zero bad guys, entire precincts swarm the scene of the crime, leaving most of the rest of the area un “protected”. But, like the saying goes, I carry a gun because I can’t fit a cop in my pocket (or, it’s easier than carrying a cop, etc.), and until there’s a cop in every room of every house, on every street corner, in every place of work, worship, business, etc., the entire institution seems incredibly pointless.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
