A buddy of mine showed me the article last night. He was confused, as he already owns a silencer and an automatic weapon (with appropriate fed stamps). After reviewing the proposed text and the current law, what this does is remove the exemption for:
“A person specifically licensed, authorized or permitted pursuant to a statute of this state or of the United States.”
as a requirement to own or possess suppressors, short barreled shotguns, short barreled rifles, or nunchaku.

The effect is a bit convoluted, as the proposed amendment directly changes a set of definitions around prohibited weapons, and you have to go elsewhere to figure out what the net result is. Then again, this is why you rely on lawyers to parse the law for you.

Regarding nunchaku, I’d love to know the story on this. There are several places in AZ weapons code where they are mentioned, and forbidden. Were we invaded by ninjas at one point? Did Michelangelo go on a rampage in the late 80’s?

    Regarding nunchaku
Apparently a number of our legislators watched too many Bruce Lee movies.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
