Glock missed a golden opportunity to mess with gunshops by making the G40 a .22 LR.

Maybe Glock thinks the .45 and .380 slim compacts already fill the niche well enough, for now?
(Also, perhaps IPSC people want a long-slide 10mm? I dunno.)

Seems to me Lonewolf and KKM are making a tidy profit off of something that ‘obviously’ nobody wants. Why is that? If there were no demand the companies would have gone under.. I cannot imagine why Glock would want to get people to pay a little more for a Glock 40 rather than having to pay nearly twice as much for a custom longslide glock 20…
‘Obviously’ Glock does not care about making its customers happy…
By the way. Exactly how many 9mm glock variations do you want Glock to make? There have been at least 6 with 4 readily available.

I got the opportunity to shoot a M&P Shield recently. That’s a sweet little pistol. I’m wondering why I would want a single stack 9 from Glock.

Paul Kisling; I like what you did there. As someone who’s company has sold millions of dollars worth of a product that my closest friends, one of whom was in the gun business, told me would never sell, I can appreciate it.
Additionally, sometimes people build things that they think are cool and fun, without much regard for real practicality. I feel fortunate to live in a society where that can happen. I’m currently working on a gun that will never sell more than a few copies, if that. Because I want to, that’s why. You want I should buy a Harley or a sports car instead? I’d rather build a new gun.
Who really needs ANY new gun model at this point, after all, like there aren’t enough practical guns to choose from? Answer; absolutely no one. That’s not the point.

A Glock rep told me on the last day of SHOT that the single stack 9mm wasn’t ready for release but to expect it to come out at the NRA Annual Meeting. He could be having me on but it didn’t seem like it.
This is certainly nothing official but I would be surprised if he was correct.

As for the Glocks-
The 42 is still flying off the shelves in this area. That alone is reason for Glock to take all the time they feel like before upstaging it with the G42-cum-43.
I get it. I wouldn’t buy a .380 if I wanted the 9. It’s only a short time, you’ll live.
For the G42, no, the “IPSC” shooters have no use for it, although you should know we don’t shoot IPSC in the United States. We shoot USPSA, which is related but not the same.
But since “major” power is achieved easily by the .40 Model 35, going to 10mm is worse than no value.
However, lots of people like the 10mm, which is a delightful cult unto itself. Not only that, but the value of a 15-round full-power hunting gun is attractive to certain elements of the hunting sector, most especially the feral hog hunters. Heck, an M2 would barely suffice for some of them, to listen to the stories. And, wouldn’t the G40 be about the cheapest full-power handgun? Compared to an Alaskan or 329?
Yeah, I wouldn’t buy one- the only Ten I’m interested in has a pony on the blued slide- but it’s a big draw to a busy market segment.
And, just to add… an IDPA/USPSA shooter buddy actually carries a 29 and shoots it freakishly well. Dang, is it loud.
