So, someone did that

A fake suppressor for Airsoft guns.

And then someone gets shot for running around in public with one on their M4 AirSoft, and Reason comments threads are full of “Cops Murder Kid For Toy Gun!”.

    … but I’m just bitter.

  2. MrSatyre Says:

@ Sigivald: Really? Instead of simply shooting someone for running around with an M4, they would actually only wait until they saw someone running around with an M4 with a silencer and then shoot?

  3. MrSatyre Says:

I’ve had “suppressors” on my Airsofties for years.

    MrSatyre beat me to it.

These have been around almost as long as airsoft. It’s a quick and easy way of extending the overall barrel length, which *generally*/can increases velocity/accuracy.

  5. Linoge Says:

(For those not familiar, the actual airsoft barrel is a thin metal tube that resides inside of the thing that looks like the barrel on the exterior. You can get pretty much any length you want, but airsoft barrels aren’t meant for wear and tear, so people put these “suppressor” barrel extenders over them to protect them.)

certain individuals / companies make the real thing for high powered airguns. Google “shroud” “moderator” or “ldc” (lead dust collector). These supposedly do not fall under the nfa…I can see how most dont as they couldnt be used on firearms. Some are in a very dark grey area. I dont worry if mine make noise. So unless factory equiped I avoid them.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
