Everyday on the bookface

I follow a couple of local groups where locals buy, trade, sell guns and gun gear with each other. Always had a good experience whenever I’ve dealt on the boards. But, it seems like every other day someone posts a sale for a Tapco’d out SKS with a crappy scope on it and wants $600 for it. And, because of the rules, I can’t reply with “If you take all that Tapco shit and the horrid scope off of it and put the original stuff back on it, I’ll give you $100”

And, since I can’t do that on those boards, I’m doing it here.

So, another in a long line of reasons to not even bother with StupidSpace.

Those types haven’t heard that the panic is over (for now) and you can purchase decent “real” guns for next to nothing now. I admit I sold a bunch of my old stuff for premium prices during the panic. Now I’m filling the empty places in the gun safes at next to nothing prices.

Yes they all want MSRP plus 5% it seems.

  4. HL Says:

Well, they have to charge extra for breaking it in for you.

Why people want to ruin a perfectly good SKS….

There are some deals to be had. And I have read the back and forth on swaps. I only participate in one trade network but it really enforces the rules. Stupidity will get you deleted.

That being said, yeh, I have noticed those offers. Also, hey, I put AR clone stuff on a 10/22. $600.

To be honest, if they throw away the Tapco crap and replace it with all the original bits, it might be worth $200-300 or so if it’s in good condition.

These idiots never realized that people like us (who tried to discourage them from turning the SKS into a poor man’s AK in the first place) were right after all and they managed to take a $200 gun, add $400 worth of crap to it, and the result is a gun worth no more than $100-150 since the people who might otherwise have been interested will now have to pay MORE to put the thing back to rights.

If you want something like an AK with detachable mags, pistol grips, and the like, do everybody a favor and start out by buying one to begin with.

The indestructible SKS will survive the Tapco indignities and eventually someone will again own the rifle, strip it of everything not original, and have an SKS again.

Price? If someone will pay $600 for the bling, let ’em.

  9. Phelps Says:

I admit it, I bubbaed my SKS to get a collapsing stock on it and shave a few ounces (this is a big ass rifle, after all.)

But the original furniture is sitting in the closet, and I haven’t drilled, sanded or sawn anything on the rifle. (And the removable magazines don’t work for shit anyways, learn to use stripper clips.)

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
