Unpossible

In Australia, a case of Sudden Jihad Syndrome broke out. Perpetrated by a man with a gun, where guns are, pretty much, banned.

I want to know why the police didn’t call on the services of a suitably capable sniper – SASR could have provided one.

“One shot fired, one dead bad-guy, no other injuries” would have been a much better outcome than this clusterf*ck.

As to guns being banned – if this guy was illegally in possession of a banned semi-auto or full-auto rifle, then isn’t that clear evidence that the laws don’t work and should be repealed? (/rhetorical question)

  2. Hartley Says:

Australia may ban handguns and semi-autos for the law-abiding, but the gangs (primarily Asian, but there are others) seem to have easy access, with drive-by shootings and gang gunfights occurring with about the same frequency as LA. I have no doubt this jihadi (who had several previous convictions for serious stuff like sexual assault) found it easy to acquire his gun.

  3. Dano Says:

Handguns are not banned in Australia. They are regulated and controlled, but AU has a growing IDPA and ISPC scene. The SSAA details the process of obtaining a handgun in AU. It’s a pain, but, not impossible.

  4. Sendarius Says:

I don’t know about a “growing” IPSC scene – Australia was one of the founding members of IPSC, and I have been shooting IPSC matches here for over 25 years.

Certainly the process to own a firearm is onerous, and certain types are (effectively) banned, but I and many others own more, and more powerful, firearms than before the Great Confiscation of the ’90s.

They keep saying “religion of peace”. You misunderstand. You’re simply spelling it wrong, and they let you; it’s not “peace”, it’s “piece”, as in “rest in pieces”.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
