    yeah, lots of companies really put the pressure on to contribute to “charity”(in their name of course). united way is the usual favorite. I usually told ’em that I contributed to local charities that I knew weren’t paying their CEO’s six-figure salaries.

    I prefer opt-out to opt-in.

    Checking the box on the monthly bill to say NO! is clear and records your preference, while leaving a box empty because you don’t want to donate is readily “adjusted” for you by the person opening the mail at the utility.

    Or do you trust your utility not to do something so unverifiable?

    Check the total dollar amount on your next monthly bill, either way, to confirm it matches the amount you think you paid.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
