Guys, seriously, quit

Alan Gura once said that dumb or bad lawsuits were the only real threat in second amendment litigation. I think the other real threat is this whole open carrying rifles to local eateries nonsense. Stop this.

Texas’ hyped ‘gun friendly’ rep is way overblown. In the last five or so years I’ve seen a proliferation of 30.06 signs (barring licensed concealed carry) by businesses here in Central Texas.

These ‘Open Carry’ folks are not helping.

I am not sure that these “open carry” folks are trying to help. If you think about it, most of the retrograde progress that the gun movement has had in the last few years has been because of show-offs carrying scary rifles. I am sure that the anti-gun folks have noticed this, and that they are smart enough to realize that more people are scared by evil black rifles than are hard-core gun rights supporters.

Are we sure that these incidents were caused by people who WANT to help? Or are they only undercover agents for the other side, pretending to be gun-supporting jerks?

‘m in Houston. These locos would get a bag party on the house here. Real quick.

I’m expecting a History Channel unreality show starring these idjits any time now.

The actual agendas are the same as the rest of them “LOOK AT ME!” and “LOOK AT THESE IDJITS!”, depending on which side of the cameral they’re on.

    And as for real? Right.

    Coupla series title ideas…

    “The OC Boys”
    “EBR’s In Your Face!”
    “OC is OK!”
    “Scare the Blue People!”

    Other ideas?

If the people who insist on scaring people by OCing black rifles they should come to NJ where stopping to buy a sandwich or gas on the way to the range with your cased rifle or handgun can get you charged with a felony,

Seems to me that a BUNCH of Ford pick up trucks, with
rifles in the rifle rack, prominently parked right out front, would serve the purpose.
NJ? Ok, four foot levels, or fishing poles.
    (Just not the GOOD ones)

A couple of decades ago, LGBQT activists started disrupting church services, town council meetings, school assemblies and other normally polite gatherings.

They’d jump up in the middle of the Mass or the school play and start yelling, “We’re here! We’re Queer! Get used to it!” and then get arrested or escorted off the property. Oddly enough, I don’t recall a single report where the disruptive people got beaten down by those offended by their shenanigans.

And how many states now have Gay Marriage?

Sure, protest by the objectionable is itself usually objectionable, sort of by definition.

But if, in future, I don’t want to leave a firearm valued at >$1000 in my easily robbed vehicle while I get my Chilis on, I don’t want it to be illegal to carry it into the restaurant and either store it with the manager or put it under my table. So those bozos highlighted here as promoting anti-gun emotions are right at least legally, although not socially.

I’ve been in restaurants on opening day of dove and deer season here in Texas where the number of shotguns or rifles just about equaled the number of patrons.

There is a time and place for political activism. I am not convinced that these supposed ‘tards are any worse than the “We’re here!” crowd was in the 1980s and 1990s.

Agents provocateur? Nah, this administration would never do anything like that!

Took an AR I’d just bought at a gunshow into an electronics store I also frequented. It wasn’t the best of neighborhoods, and my car was frightfully easy to break into (you didn’t even have to damage it!) so I’d rather keep my stuff.

Kept it in the case, and once they understood I wasn’t a loony they were ok. This was back in the 80s before we’d reawakened the consciousness. Should’ve seen the looks I’d get carrying an E1 AR across the street. Priceless.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
