In CT

Man shoots squirrel. Police take his unregistered weapons and magazines, which were not used in the shooting. Exactly what part of shooting a squirrel lead to a search of his residence?

It’s CT. Registration is the law.

He violated the law, and they took his firearm.

It ain’t right, but it’s legal.

mariner: Yeah, but the question was how did they end up searching his house?

(I suspect the answer is “because he’d put the gun he shot the squirrel with away, and they had a legitimate need for it as evidence – since it was illegal to do so, and the gun was therefore central to the evidence chain of the case – and naturally found the unregistered gun in the storage area with it”.

Which is fair, in terms of searches and due process.

Don’t do unlawful discharges. Especially when you have a gun you aren’t legally supposed to have.)

If you are going to break the law, only break one law at a time.
If you’re hauling duffel bags of drugs for a cartel, don’t speed. If you’re going to do something really f’ing stupid with a gun, that gun – and everything else in your house – needs to be legal.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
