Blowback

After Newtown, lots of gun control laws were proposed. 3 of 50 states passed some. But the result was actually more pro-gun laws:

Perverse as it may sound, the horrific mass shooting in December 2012 at Sandy Hook Elementary produced a burst of state-level gun control bills around the country and then triggered a much stronger pro-gun backlash

It’s not perverse. People like freedom.

And rather than imposing “gun-free” criminal-safe zones, people want their children defended…just like the ruling elite class and their children are defended, by guns of course.

James Taranto of the Wall Street Journal website daily column, titles these sorts of news reports “Fox Butterfield, is that you?” after the journalist who famously inverted cause and effect.

From Wikipedia: “Butterfield is the eponym for “The Butterfield Effect”, used to refer to a person who “makes a statement that is ludicrous on its face, yet it reveals what the speaker truly believes”, especially if expressing a supposed paradox when a causal relationship should be obvious. The particular article that sparked this was titled “More Inmates, Despite Drop In Crime” by Butterfield in the New York Times on November 8, 2004.”

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
