Every six months for smoke alarm batteries seems reasonable for 9volters, but if a red dot can keep its batteries for years and still be good, then shouldn’t a CR123A with a shelf-life of 10 years still be good long after that 9volter is dead?

Or every month if you’re like me, because I can never remember to turn the red dot scope ‘off’ after handling the weapon it’s mounted on.

I only do it in the spring, actually. Yeah, the batteries still have life in them, but it’s cheap insurance.

Smoke detectors: Change the 9V batteries every Fourth of July and Christmas.
On these two holidays there are always those hours before the fireworks, or after gifts are opened, where there is really nothing to do except something like this.
