The ban on short barreled rifles and shotguns has been repealed. But NRA doesn’t care about NFA, they tell me.

They did submit a nice comment on the 41P rule; for all the good it’ll do us; but that’s not the NRA’s fault.

The NRA was largely responsible for legitimizing the NFA in the pre-Miller period, and they’ve been fairly hostile of NFA owners for the vast majority of the intervening time.

That the NRA’s tune seems to be changing of late is certainly a good sign, but many in the NFA community (especially machinegun owners/enthusiasts) are justifiably suspicious of the NRA’s motives here.

While I generally appreciate the NRA’s recent support of some of our rights to own some NFA-regulated items, I too am suspicious of their motives. To that end, the cynic in me sees this recent move by the NRA as a move by the current NRA leadership (especially the Frenchman) to retain control of the organization.
