Oh, look. A different 1911 and AR-15!

Tam is not feeling the love for Jesse James new guns. I’m wondering why it has a muzzle brake that makes the gun look like an RPG launcher.

    That’s a suppressor, not a brake.

Although, given the designer, he’ll probably come out with a brake tuned to mimic a Harley exhaust note.

That post had me nodding in agreement with criticizing the compulsion to stylize to the point of hindering or even preventing practical operation.

Then I remembered the cased set of unfired Renaissance pistols that I finally sold last year after them greeting me for more than 20 years every time I opened my safe; now what could be more a case of valuing form over function than never allowing such fine shooters to perform the one action they were designed for? Resplendent as they were, all in pearl and gold with amazing art covering every metal surface, they were just fancy rocks for which I got just north of 8 G’s. But I still feel a little sick that they’re gone after all this time, and then I realize the truth; like all art, like all beauty, the value is in the eye of the beholder…sometimes it’s all about the form, and function be damned.

So I won’t be going for one of Jesse’s creations -or covering myself in tats like him either- but I’m okay with them that do.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
