It’s more important that kids die

Rather than learn gun safety. Or something. Kids handle guns all the time. Kids that are properly trained. Kids who aren’t educated about guns are a danger if they’re ever introduced to guns.

And I love how the ruger 10/22 is an “assault style rifle”, whatever that means.

    “…whatever that means.”

    It launches bullets?

I bristle when I see the gun guys letting (and in some cases, insisting against objections) their young, pre-teen (and even toddler!) children handle their guns and shoot them. –Jason Balder

Just another reason to teach my kids to shoot.

I don’t even unfollow links to her anymore. I want people to find the crazy.

Experiential learning: Otherwise unattached pistols are magnetic to teen-aged boys. It takes a serious act of will for them not to touch one.

Nevertheless, if you put a pistol on a table in the middle of a room full of teen-aged boys, and add one PSH do-goody “adult” like the writer of this piece, it will be the adult who picks up the pistol and pulls the trigger to see if it is loaded. Every time.

Just part of the Yewman Condition.

    She’s gonna love the traffic!

Pro-Tip, I know when I’m linked I don’t get an uptick in comments.

Joan LOVES moderating comments, so make sure she has PLENTY to read!

BTW People like her NEED the traffic, because she’s a vetted face of BOTH the Brady Camp and the Joyce Foundation (Joyce AstroTurf Group “Protect Minnesota”).

    She speaks directly for them.

Joan Peterson never uses a single word where 400 will suffice.

It’s like she expects peopleexpects to actually waste valuable time reading her rambling, stream of consciousness blog posts.

  7. alanstorm Says:

She gives a couple of examples – but neither of them indicate that the kids involved had any training whatsoever. But the post is allegedly about how introducing kids to guns through a training program is bad.

Am I the only one who sees the disconnect?

And remember, these people are the smart ones. Just ask them.

  8. Laura Says:

I love how she criticizes the camp both for putting Big, Scary Guns in kids’ hands, and for cracking down hard on gun safety violations. Added bonus: scare quotes around “unsafe” direction.

My 10/22 got an inexpensive black folding stock and banana mags.

Looks ridiculously like a 10/22 in a gimp suit.

It is the only “assault style rifle” I have.

Unless you count my Marlin Model 60, which has a tubular magazine that makes it an assault weapon in NJ.

Which is one more reason I am glad I live in Texas.

For all their interest in an open dialogue, they secure their comments!

I wonder if they’ll try to take away cars and alcohol next since some people fail to demonstrate personal responsibility by driving drunk.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
