The Simpsons: Tapped Out is anti-gun

I admit, I’ve not watched the show in years. But, apparently, they have an app and it’s anti-NRA:

The Simpsons is anti-gun in general.

  3. Geodkyt Says:

They’ve ALWAYS been antigun. Years ago, they had an anti-NRA episode.

You know, the saddest thing is they don’t even seem to be trying for humor or even making the dialogue remotely similar to the way the character would actually talk.

It just doesn’t get better as it goes on. MAN that is badly written. At least the anti-NRA episode was funny ni places. And the NRA threw Homer out for being irresponsible.
Looks like this has all the dialogue from the entire sequence:

I haven’t seen the app. I wouldn’t *get* the app — I’m more of a Futurama girl. But: were those text boxes *in* the app, or were they typed into the app by somebody trying to make a point?

I’d be fine with it if they were actually funny–but these sorts of things often say more about those making the comments than they do about their intended target. In this case, it’s pretty obvious that whoever wrote them has no clue what they’re talking about. Even someone not terribly sympathetic to the NRA could see that.

“Those aren’t rights! Or are they? Who can say! That’s the funny thing about the law — you never have the slightest clue what it is.”

Well, gun owners tend to know the law. Anti-gun people? Rarely. As evidenced by most of the ham-fisted dialogue at the above link.

While I am sure the personal opinions of some of the writers in both the show and the game may have anti gun sentiments, I think gun advocates are missing the point of this. This is making fun of the antis, by making the arguments so over the top they are showing how stupid they are. Gun rights advocates may be a little sensitive to these comments on our rights, as I have heard similar crap from the anti gun crowd. I think only the most stupid really believe this garbage, and you’re not going to reason with them anyway.

My god, balls in an uproar over a decade-old Simpsons episode.

Umm…. did you take a look a the thread or not? Its about an android app.

  12. Sigivald Says:

What I find amusing (in a “so clueless it’s sad” way) is that they have Chief Wiggum (CLEO of Springfield!) asking if he’ll get “background checked” on an AK.

I guess the authors don’t know that Police Chiefs can order, for their departments, actual machineguns, without anything like a personal background check on transfer.

And that ain’t no NRA “loophole”.

The episode in question is “The Cartridge Family” and despite a few recycled stereotypes it actually shows gun ownership in a positive light.

Homer joins his local NRA club, but gets kicked out for irresponsible gun handling.

Marge leaves him because of the gun, but in the end she decides she wants it for herself.

In the final scene Snake tries to rob the motel where Marge and the kids are staying, but is thwarted by several armed citizens.

It may look anti-gun on its face, but the script tells a different story.

The correct answer to Wiggum asking if he needs a background check should: “heck no, gun control doesn’t apply to cop, despite your 113 NDs”

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
