No party is the party of smaller government

Small-Government GOP Governors Getting All Pissy About Sequester Cuts

BOTH parties need to be run out of town on a rail… Just sayin…

The reason we owe $16.5 gillion is “bipartisan budget deals” (i.e. grand bargains, obscenely bloated budgets approved by Rs and Ds, etc.).

I don’t view bipartisanship as a good thing.

To the contrary, it has historically meant that someone I (previously) voted for has sold me out.

I would rather lose fair and square than be utterly sold out by someone I supported.

In all fairness to the states, the Federal government imposes hefty unfunded mandates on them that they have to bear.

Nonetheless, we have a dichotomy of states with fiscally disciplined states on the one hand and profligate, debt-ridden states on the other hand.

Yes, but the fiscally-disciplined states will end up bailing out the fiscally-profligate, due to bipartisanship in Congress.

This is why a 10th Amendment revival is far-fetched: the states are as wedded to federal largesse as a diabetic is to sugar (and with much the same long-term results).

Why do you think all those GOP governors are now signing on for more of that sweet, sweet MedicAid money? They will buy re-election by handing out free goodies using federal dollars extracted from federal taxpayers (and our Chinese overlords, to be fair).

The Federal Government was and is a creature of the States. It is to operate ONLY by “delegated powers” which if our elected officials were obeying according to their oaths, we wouldn’t have these budget problems. And delegated power is always from the greater to the lesser. The illegal, unconstitutional Federal Reserve is the source of fiat money by which the Feds have been able to hand out the “sugar” to the pathetic and weak “diabetic” States which should simply be asserting their 10th Amendment power and the people their rights.

    Well said, Ron.

You can’t just cut the drug to the patient and expect it to survive.

The American people wed the Federal and State government many years ago, and the binds have only gotten stronger over the years. The Feds now spend so much money in so many places that just stopping it will take down those who do good work. The states simply don’t do the things they used to. But the people who work for a living don’t control where their paychecks come from – federal or state – and are the ones going to get burnt here.

Bias Alert: I am one of the ones hit hard by sequestration. It’s already a serious issue for us. We do national defense work and support warfighters all day,e very day. Except Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Because under sequestration, we don’t have the funding to work, and we cannot even volunteer like we did in past budget crises (federal law thing).

Be careful what you wish for. The cure applied too fast can kill the patient.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
