    Lightweight.

  2. Phelps Says:

Something just occurred to me — gunsafes where ammo and weapons are stored are also, by definition, magazines.

Given the literal reading of the law, does that mean that they are banning storing ammunition in… well, anything? And if not, how are these laws not ambiguous and therefore unenforceable?

That’s all you got, Unc? 🙂

You call that a arsenal? Are you working for one of those big city liberal newspapers? Women and Children must be dropping like domino’s at the mere sight of such an “Armory”.

You do get bonus points if you have magazines for guns you don’t even own yet. Because they were on sale……..

@ phelps: That is why the first part of any legislation contains the definitions of key terms that will be used for the purposes of that law. The AW bans, for example Feinstein’s bill defines it thusly:

‘‘(37) The term ‘large capacity ammunition feeding
    device’—
‘‘(A) means a magazine, belt, drum, feed strip,
or similar device, including any such device joined or
coupled with another in any manner, that has an
overall capacity of, or that can be readily restored,
changed, or converted to accept, more than
    rounds of ammunition; and
‘‘(B) does not include an attached tubular device designed to accept, and capable of operating
only with, .22 caliber rimfire ammunition.’’

‘‘(39) The term ‘detachable magazine’ means an am
munition feeding device that can be removed from a firearm without disassembly of the firearm action.
‘‘(40) The term ‘fixed magazine’ means an ammunition feeding device that is permanently fixed to the firearm in such a manner that it cannot be removed without disassembly of the firearm.
