Cheaper Than Dirt will not sell to law enforcement in states with restrictive gun laws

Doesn’t quite make up for their price-gouging shenanigans.

  2. Matthew Carberry Says:

No such thing as “price gouging” as long as there’s no state-supported monopoly in place. It’s capitalism 101, what the market will bear. Don’t like their price, shop somewhere else.

That is the -only- thing they have done which no free-market, limited gov’t proclaiming person can legitimately complain about.

  3. Jailer Says:

Agreed. The items they say they won’t sell to them (ammunition for example) are likely bought under contracts with local vendors. That’s how it worked when I was running my arsenal.

I think it’s political fluff trying to make a recovery form the price gouging and flack they got from removing “assault weapons” from their site after the newtown shooting.

  4. TigerStripe Says:

I won’t be buying anything from CTD. I bought some items (on backorder) from other vendors at normal prices early on in the new rage against guns after Newton.

If I didn’t have anything at all before the latest ban proposal(s), I may have bought something at their ridiculous prices. Those prices aren’t the only thing that will keep me from never buying from them.

Regardless of whatever other sins CTD is guilty of, this latest announcement is very good news. I think a gun-industry boycott of the nature which now seems to be forming could be a very powerful tool against the forces of gun-control.

One reason gun-control succeeds is the proponents have been able to promote the policy as a zero cost solution. But when real costs and real pain become associated with gun-control, nearly all public support for gun-control evaporates.

Good for CTD. If their only sin is capitalism, they are better than most.

  7. adam Says:

I’ve removed CTD and Dick’s from my usual shopping lists. Their actions after Newtown really proved that they have no spine.

Good for the industry though. I agree – Barrett started it with bans to California departments, and now we have some other companies doing the same.

  8. IllTemperedCur Says:

Screw CTD. For years they’ve refused to sell perfectly legal pieces of plastic to folks in the non-free states if said plastic was designed for AR15s.

  9. Bobby Says:

And the local feds? This is pretty toothless with out them.
I like the stance others have taken: No sales bug to civilians till law equality.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
