The law is for all people

LaRue issues a press release:

Effective today, in an effort to see that no legal mistakes are made by LaRue Tactical and/or its employees, we will apply all current State and Local Laws (as applied to civilians) to state and local law enforcement / government agencies. In other words, LaRue Tactical will limit all sales to what law-abiding citizens residing in their districts can purchase or possess.

Good for them. Can we get other gun makers to follow suit? Doubtful but, hey, give Sig, S&W and Glock a call.

FFLs should also get on this bandwagon, as most of the LEO purchases go through local FFLs.

    A new favorite.

My only quibble is that LaRue Tactical’s statement perpetuated the false distinction between “law enforcement / government agencies” and “civilians.” On the other hand, one could interpret this as meaning that all civilians are equal, regardless of their job, especially since the statement exempted the military from the firm’s policy.

On the gripping hand, since LaRue Tactical’s statement also exempted non-military Federal agencies, it also implies that some civilians are more equal than others….

Overall, while I wholeheartedly agree with LaRue Tactical’s statement, I would have preferred that the firm’s exemption only extended to actual military forces.

Here’s the thing. LaRue isn’t trying to pick sides between LEOs and citizens. They are saying that LEOs have to follow the same gun laws as the citizens that they police. Since the current batch of unconstitutional laws at the Federal level haven’t passed, why would they go after Federal LEOs? If, God forbid, we end up with 10 round federal mag limit, I’d expect them to stop selling standard cap mags to the federal police agencies.

This site has a decent idea I think should gain some traction.

Emails to each company asking them to support citizens and not LEOs in the areas that pass these ridiculous restrictions.

Maybe it’s just a poke in the eye. Maybe some need their eyes poked.

LaRue is on the side of the Angels.

Perhaps the exemption for feds is try8ing not to poke their mil contracts and their BATFE paperwork over the ledge.

    Outstanding.

Reminds me about that Gun Store in New York State where the owner pulled out all the EVIL HI-CAPACITY Magazines from some pistols he was selling to some Cops. He told them that it would be Illegal for him to sell them under the new Cuomo Law, and they would have to buy them from somewhere else. so…

    “NO SOUP FOR YOU!”

  11. Ron W Says:

This is great…imposing “the equal protection of the laws” on the UNLAWFUL authorities!

I recall some years ago that Barret from Murfreesboro, TN which makes a .50 cal rifle told California that if they restricted those rifles to their citizens that they wouldn’t be selling them or replacement parts to the State of California.

  12. TigerStripe Says:

    God Bless Texas (and Larue)!

Ronnie Barret is going to have to stop .50cal sales to NJ now that NJ is looking to ban the .50 BMG as well as shotguns with rifled barrels

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
