Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times, awww nevermind.

  2. Bubblehead Les Says:

Wouldn’t it be nice to find out which Ammo Company takes the Job? And then we find out the Company tells all the Civilians who aren’t part of the DHS to “Be Patient, we’re working HARD to fill your order!” Then we can BoyCott the Bastards who decided to Feed the Cops who are trying to take away our Guns!

OR the Ammo Industry can tell the DHS to get in Line and wait your turn.

Wonder which one will come true?

  3. comatus Says:

They’d do it for Randolph Scott.

  4. TigerStripe Says:

The ammo we used at the old FLETC was .40 cal Remington Golden Saber for handgun training. I can’t imagine what the 9mm is for though…

  5. Fin Says:

Some of the chumps at the range used to laugh at guys like me who swept up the brass, crawled on hands and knees and thenspent afternoon to sort and tumble it so as to reload it.

    Who’s laughing now chumps?

  6. Bill Says:

Can they say no? That’d be great.

  7. Some Law Talking Guy Says:

I love how Drudge links to the tinfoil hats, who are getting all worked up, “OMG, FEMA CAMPS! BLACK HELICOPTERS!!1!”

Seriously, there are like 200,000 DHS employees. If even 10%, or 20,000, of them are actually armed and required to qualify with pistols, this is about 1,000 rounds a piece. 10-15 magazines of ammo downrange, four times a year. Not exactly commando training.

Of course, being .gov types, they probably don’t actually go every quarter, but I bet the 10% number is low, and they “lose” quite a bit of ammo each year.

  8. Bill Says:

At current production rates of 1 BILLION rounds per week, 21 million rounds isn’t even something that the market would notice, particularly as it is for multiple delivery dates.

The (dot)military and (dot)gov (including LEO organizations, state, county, city) is shooting up ammo at a pace much higher than the public.

Last survery I saw said that only 15% of ammunition is used by the public, the rest is government sales.

  9. Texas Jack 1940 Says:

Except the order isn’t for 21 million rounds, it’s for 240,000 rounds, delivered to a training center. If you look at the order, the first two items listed are for 100,000 rounds each, and the third is for 40,000 rounds.

  10. Sid Says:

And I heard that the US Military just placed an order for targets that depict elderly ladies carrying Bibles and children playing with puppies.

Guys, they have to train with real bullets at some point. On an organizational level, this is not a lot of bullets.

  11. mariner Says:

No non-military government agency NEEDS that much ammunition.

  12. Skeeter Says:

local gun shot told me the gun show folks are buying up ammo cheap and jacking the price up at the show

  13. wasntme Says:

You think they are using hollow points to practice with?

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
