In Tennessee, nut job tries to get his mass shooting on only to be shot dead by an armed school resource officer. Oddly, this story isn’t getting much press.

BULLSHIT.
120 seconds….admirable time. OUTSTANDING, in fact. Because the bad guy had NOT shot immediately upon seeing the officer. Once past her….open season on defenseless students.
Locked doors. Papered windows. No other exits. Fish in a barrel.

Studies have shown that no mass shootings have even been stopped by a good guy with guns who happened to be there when it started – obviously because it was stopped BEFORE it became a mass shooting, but that is inconvenient to the authoritarian thugs.

As Cargosquid said, this happened in 2010. It only got local press at the time. I remembered it since it was in my home area and linked to the archived article a bit before Christmas in a comment thread where I was arguing with some anti-gunners about whether having armed officers or teachers in schools would stop shootings.
I wonder if the hits from following the link triggered some automatic update or if (more likely) the folks at TriCities.com remembered the incident and dredged up the article the same way I did.

Remember the anti-rights definition of a “Mass Shooting” is any event where multiple people were shot, therefore armed people have NEVER stopped a “Mass Shooting”!

Mike, when the incident happened in 2010, it didn’t get any play in the national media. It scared the pants of a lot of parents around here, though. (The school in question is less than 15 minutes from my house.) I remember being grateful I had not bought a house we looked at across the county line and I remember my daughter texting me to see if I could find out what had happened at Central and were her friends there okay.
It resulted in the Resource Officer program being expanded into middle schools across our county (including my kids’ middle school, which up until then had shared an officer with the other middle school in the city) and every school in our city now has the kind of double entry that gave the officer 120 seconds to get there to confront the shooter. Because of Sandy Hook by the beginning of next school year, there will be ROs in our elementary schools. Armed guards work and we know it first hand.

By requiring that no armed resistance to a shooter can occur until the police arrive, this means that persons opposed to armed guards at a school have an acceptable number of children that they are willing to see killed before the shooter is stopped. What is this number and how was it arrived at?

Not sure there’s a specific number, but the calculation is that enough dead children will generate enough anger and grief for them to get their agenda passed.

The SRO did not shoot the intruder. Responding deputies did. The SRO lived only because the intruder didn’t want to shoot her. What was she waiting on, the guy to take the first shot?
