eBay and guns and banning PMAGS

They’ve always had a no scary gun things policy with scary being defined, basically, as “illegal in California”. So, this isn’t exactly news:

Parts and accessories for known assault weapons are not permitted to be listed on ebay. PMAG items and accessories for PMAG are made specifically for assault classified weapons should not be listed.

Since “assault weapon” is an arbitrary and no longer valid legal construct, what exactly is convered? I wonder what “assault classified weapons” are?

Mmmmmm, whatever constitutes an “Assault Weapon” in California maybe?

Yet I bought my ~17″ Lee Enfield bayonet off Ebay.

I’d rather be threatened by someone holding an empty PMAG 30-rounder than by someone holding such a length of sharpened steel.

Markie Marxist sez: “Cool! I always love to see capitalists cutting their own throats! It saves us commies the trouble! We don’t even have to pass any laws or anything! They just throw away their own freedom for us! One has to remember that useful idiots may be useful, but they’re still idiots! Ha! Ha!”

  4. Gregory Markle Says:

Ran into this myself the other week selling a few PMAGs.

“Due to U.S. Federal and California state laws, eBay doesn’t permit the sale of any assault weapon-related parts or accessories. This applies to all parts and accessories related to any firearm defined as an “assault weapon” by federal or California law. Please do not relist.”

This despite the fact that I specifically complied with ALL the laws of both CA and the Feds and stated emphatically that I would be checking to make sure they were not shipping to a proscribed address. Too bad for them that pulling my auction twelve hours after I’d sold all of the PMAGs listed didn’t really impact my sales much! It took a whole 13 minutes to sell 20 mags.

PMAGs also work in California-legal guns that never met any BS definition of “assault rifle”.

(Rem. 7615, for instance. And I think someone makes a boltie that takes STANAG magazines.)

  6. Sigivald Says:

(And to go with what Mr. Markle said, I want them to tell me which laws they’re pretending to hide behind.

I’d prefer an honest “we think guns are scary” or a “we’re worried about some sort of liability or civil suit”, to that handwaving.)
