NRA and Obamacare

Well played:

Under the headline “Protection of Second Amendment Gun Rights” was a brief provision restricting the ability of doctors to gather data about their patients’ gun use — a largely overlooked but significant challenge to a movement in American medicine to treat firearms as a matter of public health.

  1. JTwig Says:

This would impress me more if supporters of Obamacare and Democrats in general hadn’t already shown a willingness to ignore/not enforce laws they don’t agree with. Who cares what the law says if there are no consequences for breaking it and no one will enforce it.

  2. Chas Says:

“Studies of firearms violence” = gun control propaganda designed to ban guns.
If the left wasn’t such a bunch of over the top, gun ban douchebags, then this provision would not have been necessary.

  3. Fiftycal Says:

The important part is that once socialized medicine is fully implemented, YOUR medical records will be open to anyone with the password. And you can be assured FBI/BATFE/IRS/??? will have access. If/when gun bans are in place, you can bet those DATA BASES will be used to track whatever is deemed “illegal”

  4. Old NFO Says:

One ‘small’ step in the right direction! Thanks!

It’s amazing that we’re still finding $#!+ hidden inside the Obamacare bill.

Congress has gotten themselves the privilege of using computers to assemble and deploy these high word-count “assault” bills and then ram them through the voting process without allowing anyone the ability to use a computer to analyze exactly what is being passed.

Perhaps we should limit “assault-bills” to a 1000 words per bill. If they need more bills they can just change paper.

A tad more seriously, I’d require them to “check out” a specific portion of the US code they wanted to modify, and submit an electronic version of the bill they propose to pass with all changes inline and color coded. Proposed updates would always remain publicly visible instantly on Thomas.gov , and “patches” to the US code would only be applied after Congress passes a bill and the President signs it into law.

We could call it “git-sausage” or something.

  6. Mike Says:

What I don’t understand is why people can’t just tell the Doc to “shove it where the sun don’t shine”.

If the question makes you uncomfortable, lie. If he keeps pushing, get another doctor.

Jeez, if people can’t even muster enough balls to push back against their doctor, it puts the lie to all that macho posturing against Feinstein and Co., doesn’t it?

  7. Skip Says:

    I like my doc.
    He’s a shooter.

  8. comatus Says:

Mike, I’m sure your response will be duly noted, along with how “agitated” you were. When the social-hygienists asked how much Negro or Jewish blood you had, it was all about the sickle-cell and Tay-Sachs. You could count on it. Not to answer was to answer.

Skip, I have a surgeon whose given name is Jihad. He doesn’t ask; neither do I.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
