Dumb reactions to the shooting

Diane Feinstein will introduce an assault weapons ban on the first day of congress. Becuase, you know, Connecticut’s assault weapons ban totally prevented a mass shooting. Oh, wait.

We must exploit the shooting

Rupert Murdoch calls for a ban on guns already banned. And I’m sure will give up his security team.

I think someone got a little sand in her vagina. Because, you know, hurling expletives at inanimate objects is useful.

Arm the teachers! This is silly. Sure, if teachers want to be armed and do son voluntarily, I’m not opposed. But I don’t think making schools even more like prisons will help.

Hurling projectiles at high speed is a technology we shouldn’t have.

4 awful reactions to the shooting.

Yup, this is the stuff we’re up against.

I think removing the restrictions on teachers being armed is something that should be considered- even if it required additional training.

  2. SayUncle Says:

I’m not opposed to that. But arming them, that seems silly.

Why? It has worked wonderfully for Israel. When was the last school invasion you heard about in Israel?

Because forcing people to do things they don’t want to do aren’t what we do here.

You want to carry? More power to you. You don’t want to carry? Well, uhm, less power to you.

  5. SteveA Says:

I am not saying we should force anybody to do something they don’t want. HOWEVER, any teacher that wants to carry should be able to get training & be allowed(legally) to carry. Some already do even though they face losing their job over it.
My niece is a grade 3 teacher and has been for 6 yrs. she has CC’d everyday since she started as she would rather be judged by a jury of 12 than have to live with the memeories of children being killed when she could have made a difference.

  6. SteveA Says:

uggh! memories not memeories dang it. Where is spellcheck when I need it!!

  7. Huck Says:

“Because forcing people to do things they don’t want to do aren’t what we do here.”

Really? Not being allowed to carry the means to protect one’s self and family in certain places is something many people dont want to do, but are made to do it. We’re also going to be made to do many things that we dont want to do under Obamacare.

    You were saying?

  8. Huck Says:

Dont put it past Congress to do some stupid shit in the wake of this. The gun control act of 1968 was a kneejerk reaction to the shootings of Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King.

  9. Ted N Says:

Holy carp, I thought I was the only one in the universe with the “let the adult teachers make the adult choice whether to carry or not.”

    I swear I thought I was alone!

  10. Will Says:

“let the adult teachers make the adult choice whether to carry or not.”

No. It should be a requirement for the job. Cops have to carry to protect themselves and “the public”, or no job. Same for other jobs.

Until you get to college, the students are not generally capable of doing the job. Therefor it should be the responsibility of those in place. Forget having a cop or two wandering the school, that doesn’t work too well.

Most parents don’t have the luxury of choosing a school that has armed teachers. Which would you rather have for your kids?

  11. rickn8or Says:

We give the teachers the responsibility for the safety of the students and the only thing we give them to do it with is a promise the police will show up… sometime.

  12. RC Says:

Schools go on about how they are in loco parentis when your kids are at school, shouldn’t being able to protect and defend your kids a part of being in loco parentis?

  13. SteveA Says:

No ted there are a more of us out here, we just stay quiet and fly under the radar most of the time.

  14. aczarnowski Says:

    > No. It should be a requirement for the job.

Ugh. Under your model we can retroactively force you to wear a bunny suit with fluffy tail to work every day Will. Sound good?

Removing limitations on our rights is a reasonable first step here, not adding more of them.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
