Thoughts and prayers directed to CT

Some nutjob killed a bunch of kids and, by most accounts, his own family. My heart goes out to those kids and their families.

May God protect us all from nut-jobs and government operations.

  2. Chas Says:

What do you expect? The government gathers children together in public schools and then pretends that they’re safe, because it’s cheaper to pretend.
Teachers are going to have to share their great, big fat piece of the educational pie with security guards, and whether they like it or not – armed security guards, and they won’t like it, but it needs to be done that way, because that’s the only way that works.

  3. Chas Says:

Teacher full of leftist bullshit and gun control vs. lunatic with gun. Who wins? Yes, there really has to be another way.

  4. Chas Says:

The political left is full of itself and the “reasonableness” of gun control upon this occasion. I say, “Fuck You!” and my rights I’ll be keeping for myself, despite some knackered individual, and the opportunistic left. Time to be sporting with them, eh?

  5. HiddenHills Says:

    homeschooling.

  6. Chas Says:

I’ll be rubbin’ ’em raw with me words, I will! Heh! Heh!

  7. Tremaine Says:

Hey Chas. Starting pay for teachers is $30k a year. Does that sound like a great big fat piece of pie to you?

I went $65k into debt to become a teacher. My first two years of teaching are basically going to be done for free. I could make more money in fast food but I want the world to be better than the way I found it.

And while we’re at it. Not all teachers are liberals. I’m certainly not and I’m an avid shooter on top of it so you can all get that stereotype out of your head right now.

There where failures on multiple levels here. The bad guy went completely unchallenged once he reached the school. That should never happen anywhere. Armed security would be good. That way the shooters can focus on them first.

Better would be to arm the teachers too. Oh, and Kevlar for all staff who choose to wear it.

Lets give our sheep some spines and stop hording our most precious possessions in unprotected banks.

  8. Chas Says:

In NYS it’s more than $30k.

  9. Chas Says:

Who the fuck set them up to be slaughtered? Commie libs rule Connecticut! Blame them! Fuck you, commie libs! And fuck yeah, it’s fucking political! Fuck commie libs!

  10. Chas Says:

Dead kids advance their gun ban agenda! Is that just a fucking coincidence! No, it is fucking not!

  11. Chas Says:

Who failed to kill the son of a bitch? Who was responsible for those children, who were too young to protect themselves, and failed to protect them? Who fucked up?

  12. Cargosquid Says:

    No one “fucked up.”

A madman, apparently angry at his mother, shot her, his family, and HER class.

So, unless there was advance warning, no one “fucked up.” Unless you think NOT having our schools as armed fortresses, NOT having our society set up so that schools, etc are bunkers is fucking up.

Yes, the gun banners are going to use this politically. What else is new? Right now, its time to mourn the dead. Let THEM immediately “use the crisis.” We already know that is what they do.

I plan to hug my child and pray.

  13. nk Says:

Too bad he saved a bullet for himself.

    He killed children.

I have a tree, rope and kindling for somebody like that.

Maybe the Devil is already doing it.

  14. Old NFO Says:

Concur, and HOW can anyone do that to one child, much less 20 of them???

  15. Gunnutmegger Says:

    Tremaine,

“Hey Chas. Starting pay for teachers is $30k a year.”

That’s the exception and not the rule. The absurdly generous benefits and job security more than compensate.

Why are we letting mental patients like this monster and the Batman movie theater murderer and the loon who shot Gabby Giffords roam free?

Lock them up or euthanize them. They can’t be cured and they are a waste of resources that could be better spent on patients that pose less risk to society. And yes, I will volunteer my time to handle either task.

    Why so angry, you ask?

    http://www.yankeegunnuts.com/2012/12/14/sandy-hook-massacre/

    That’s why.

No more gun control claptrap. It’s time for mental patient control.

  16. Cargosquid Says:

Its crap like this that make me question if there is a God and, at the same time, devoutly hope that there is so that there can be a hell available for monsters like this.

  17. Jeff from DC Says:

    @cargosquid

So many people turning away from God and Church is the reason people are losing their damn minds. Whether someone believes in God or not, religion gives people a moral compass and the promise of a reward for living a good life. Atheism doesn’t. As silly as the concept of a big man in the sky is to Atheists, at least it gives people something to believe in and a community to be a part of.

  18. Michael Curtis Says:

The solution is simple. We need to hire armed police at every school. Of course we need to make sure that they are good people who love kids. They should also be trained in some forms of education and maybe they can teach classes.

We should probably call them some name like teaching peace officers.

    Or maybe teachers for short

    @Jeff

Take a look at that article. See if you can answer the last sentence. It made me think.

Our schools are already like prisons. How much moreso do we want to make them in the name of security?

  20. TIM Says:

So sad.Im glad he did himself in instead of getting to sit on death row for 25 years costing us taxpayers.Im sure there is going to be some fall out from this.

  21. anon Says:

    Bad parenting I’d call it.

    *Mom and Dad divorced.
*Mom ignores the fact her younger son is mentally unbalanced (usually part of the whole “I want to be the fun parent” dynamic that occurs between divorced parents)
*Mom ILLEGALLY straw buys guns for the 20 year mentally unbalanced son continuing the “I want to be the fun parent” thing)
    *Innocent people die.

  22. MrSatyre Says:

@ Jeff from DC: What a load of crap. That so-called “moral compass” you think religion gives you has “given” loads of sick psychopaths the “right” to murder, rape, humiliate and disparage countless innocents over the centuries thanks to a false sense of self-righteousness. It’s egotism, squared and cubed, nothing more. As an avowed atheist, my moral compass guides me to follow the Golden Rule, which is what religious folks claim to follow, but rarely (if ever) do. Don’t knock the rational rest of us for your own character flaws.

  23. JKB Says:

The reason no one was there to stop this guy was by federal law. It is illegal to carry a firearm within 1000 feet of a school creating a federally designated gun-free school zone.

It is illegal for anyone not an on-duty law enforcement officer or school security guard to discharge a firearm on public property in a federally designated gun-free school zone in self defense or defense of others. That’s 5-yrs in prison for acting to stop the imminent threat.

    Link

This has been illegal for 22 years. And that is in addition to any CT restrictions on firearm possession and use.

  24. D2k Says:

Did not expect a shit storm on here from this incident…
I realize that this was a very emotional incident due to the number of children killed, but this does not give you guys the excuse to be assholes.

    Consider:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_rampage_killers
These things happen, there are monsters out there, the best we can do is mitigate.

A little perspective on all of this:
    http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/deaths.htm
Divide the accidents number by 365 and you will realize about 320 people have their lives cut short every day in the US due to an accident.

This incident was sad and terrible, but it was just a blip in the greater scheme of things.

  25. Bob Says:

If government was behind 9/11 to promote their agenda, would they stop at killing children to promote their agenda?

  26. Justthisguy Says:

D2k, we’ve always been assholes, cold-blooded assholes, when it comes to occasions like this one. Good guys should be armed cold-blooded assholes when it comes to stopping people like that guy.

  27. Jake Says:

@ JKB: You’re mostly right – there is an exemption in the carry restrictions for people with a CCW permit issued by that state. HOWEVER, you are correct that there is NO such exemption in the part that prohibits discharging said firearm, even in cases of clear and unquestionable self-defense.

I’ve paid attention to this because I live well within 1000′ of a school. It is entirely possible for me to be in a situation where if I take a single step to the right to avoid an attacker before firing I’m okay, but if I take that same single step to the left instead firing would be a federal felony. One direction stepping further onto my property (or a neighbor’s), the other direction stepping off the curb onto the street.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
