Wow, If Ive ever seen anything that would encorage people to whip out their phones while hunting, this is it. What a dumb, embarrasing for the state, law.
I don’t know that its “embarrassing”, several states have different versions of laws that are meant to prohibit things that people may feel are not “fair chase”.
Some states prohibit hunting the same day you flew in an aircraft as an example (Alaska?).
When the deer can use IR cameras to locate hunters in tree stands, then the hunters can use phone texts to keep each other informed.
Fair is fair.
And the traditional method of informing other hunters that deer are headed their way – several shots from downhill followed by loud cursing and shouts of “Missed ’em, dammit!” works just fine.
Texting and sending photos of game and conditions has become pretty commonplace in Texas. I was in my tree but keeping up with a buddy 350 miles away out West. I regularly send game photos to our host, post on facebook from the stand. What the heck.
I want a drone with IR sensor on it. Find out where they are before you go out.
I would like to find out how the turkeys on my friend’s ranch know I’m there. Nothing one day, then a flock of 15 show up the day after I leave. I think they have posted a picture of my truck and high tail it when I show up.

The big question is if this is one of those crimes that disqualifies you from owning firearms.

Can’t in Iowa either. Falls under use of electronic devises/radios, and the god like powers granted to game wardens here.

So, given this, is it still ok to txt my buddies to come on down if a bar is crawling with stone cold foxes?
