So what you are saying is that:
I can’t require welfare recipients to take a drug test to get a welfare check, because that violates their privacy.
I can’t ask a person to prove that they are an American citizen in order to vote, because that would violate their privacy.
But mandating that I carry a recording device around in my car, so the government can monitor my movement doesn’t?
I’m guessing that the first time this device is used to catch a person smuggling illegals across the border, the left will oppose this.

These Event Data Recorders have been around for a billion years. My 96 Saturn had one. I’m pretty sure every GM vehicle made since ’95 does. I can’t get worked up about this.
What does get me worked up is when prosecutors ignore black box data when it doesn’t match their indictments.

mikee: that’s how they’ve been so far. Cheaper storage has meant storing MORE data, not storing data LONGER.
