Maybe this is the Trayvon Martin Case They’re Looking For

And they really are

In light of the Zimmerman case, I wouldn’t be so hasty to jump to conclusions. Again. But that’s what’s happening. As told, the story seems to be pretty despicable. But the Zimmerman case seemed that way at the start too and we see how that turned out.

  1. Kristophr Says:

Shooter claims one teen in the car pulled a gun on him. Gun disappeared by the time the cops arrived.

Somehow Wonkette and the other sites seem to leave that part out.

  2. EBGC Says:

My rule is simple – show me all of the evidence. This happened at a gas station / convenience store.

Until I see the raw footage from those cameras, I reserve judgement either way.

  3. Guav Says:

    No Kristophr, Wonkette included that.

  4. SayUncle Says:

Yeah, guav, but it’s hard to see amidst all the race baiting, bitter-clinger, white gun owner bigotry.

  5. Stupid Wonkette Brain Says:

    Wonkette Says,

Needless to say, it would be very, very unfair to suggest that race played any role in Mr. Dunn’s actions. We feel like we should probably apologize to dead Andrew Breitbart for even having such a thought.

Oops, did I suggest racist statement out loud?

  6. Kdawg Says:

First time I have ever been to that wonky wonkette site, and by reading the slanted article and the comments I will make sure it will never get another page view from me. Apparently, their readers think that anyone who even owns a gun is the devil incarnate.

  7. Paul Says:

Would all of the outrage that’s on display at the Wonkette site be flapping in the breeze if this 17 year old black kid had been killed by another 17 year old black kid? Is it racist to ask that?

  8. nk Says:

Wonkette is indeed a despicable site.

  9. Kristophr Says:

    Guav: Sorry, I missed it.

I suspect they didn’t consider this information important.

  10. Chiburbian Says:

If this guy was justified in shooting, he certainly mucked up the next step. So if I am understanding this correctly, the first interaction with the police was by the friends of the kid that was shot. Even IF there was a pistol in the car they had plenty of time to ditch it because the guy that did the shooting fled the scene without calling the police.

So basically This man did nearly everything wrong and he will likely spend a good bit of his life in jail. IMO.

  11. mikee Says:

The shooter left the scene and did not contact police until the next day. The reasons for this range from being in shock to the Ted Kennedy excuse of needing time to get alcohol out of his system to lawyering up.

The shooting victims reportedly displayed a gun after words were exchanged with the shooter. No gun was found when police arrived.

The possibliity exists that both sides were stupid here, that only one side or the other side was actually at fault, or that both sides acted somewhat correctly.

Based upon current info, I’m going with an unnecessary confrontation by an armed person who could have de-escalated it without risk.

  12. montieth Says:

Why wait for facts when you can be a caring, thoughtful and nuanced liberal by jumping to conclusions and playing to stereotypes?

  13. rickn8or Says:

Right Chiburbian, rule of thumb is “after a shooting, the first one on the phone to the Po-leece gets to be the Good Guy.”

  14. NotClauswitz Says:

Well it didn’t happen in overwhelmingly racist and thug-culture dominated Richmond or Oakland, CA where the only concealed-carry gun-men on the killing fields allowed to play catch-and-release are those without any kind of license to own, carry, OR conceal. Oops is that racist?

  15. Kristophr Says:

Chiburbian, rickn8or: yup. Be sure to be the one who calls the cops.

I keep a throwaway cellphone in my vehicle for that purpose ( as well as AAA when needed ).

  16. SD3 Says:

Please help me here. What does wonkette call it again when a random African- American shoots another African- American?

    *crickets*

    Oh yeah. Thanks.

  17. Chas Says:

He initiated contact, with a complaint, while armed? If he had a real complaint, he should have called the police and let them worry about it. Carrying a gun does not constitute a license to be socially creative.
    Don’t be stupid out there!

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
