Wounded Warrior Project Anti-Gun?

Seems they have a policy that is:

WWP does not co-brand, create cause marketing campaigns or receive a percentage or a portion of proceeds from companies in which the product or message is sexual, political or religious in nature, or from alcohol or firearms companies.

I’ve always been skeptical of charities which demand a continuing donation up front. This stunt allows the charity to borrow additional money commercially, and those credit-line dollars don’t fall under the same reporting requirements. Charaties which do this can then develop sizeable stealthy “household” slush-funds.

I stay away from all such funds, no mattet how many tears of stmpathy their ads cause.

Any charity that advertises on TV doesn’t need my money…

Good to know. WWP won’t be getting any more money from me.

EVERYONE that has ever contributed to WWP needs to email them something like this:

I have, in the past, contributed to the WWP programs.

Due to your stance on firearms and firearms manufacturers, expressed most recently to the Tom Gresham show, I will no longer do so.

Please remove my name from all mailing and telephone lists you may have.

    Sincerely……

WWP wasn’t worried about getting support from gun companies back in May when they took Kahr Arms’ $50k donation.

We may want to point out to them that they have a gun in their logo.

On the other hand, they’re a charity. Charities are usually wise to avoid any hint of favoritism, scandal, or unpleasantness. It’s not that hard to see why a charity that focuses on war casualties doesn’t want to have to answer questions about why they’re supporting the same companies that, conceivably, created the same guns that were used to injure the people the WWP tries to help.

It’s not that it’s all that difficult to explain, but there are some people who just refuse to accept the simple explanation. Why expose yourself to that kind of controversy?

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
