Protecting and serving

In Florida, a man was using a water hose to spray a fire that was approaching his house. So, the police tased him for it.

“Back off and let the insurance take care of it.” If that’s the response cops give to a fire, I guess I’ll exhibit the same concern when their pensions are up for defunding.

“But my pension–that’s all I have!” they’ll say. Well, exactly.

Maybe the homeowner didn’t present his union card when attempting to extinguish the fire? Could be the Only Ones mentality has spread to hoses.

    JBTs again…

“You put yourself in danger, we must assault you to prevent that!”
    Is a taser deadly force?

  5. Barron Barnett Says:

Tomcat, it’s less lethal. While it can and has resulted in death it’s considered non-lethal. Which is funny because bean bag rounds and rubber bullets at proper engagement differences are safer than tasers statistically.

Status on any pets? I’ll be surprised if the dog wasn’t “made an example”.

    Sue them.

Find the cops. Shoot them in the knees. See how they like it.

  9. Phelps Says:

I think that in a just world, those cops would have just assumed personal liability for any losses he has that aren’t covered.

this is one side of the tale. i’d like to hear the other side.

Sue them. Sue them till hell freezes over. Don’t back down. Tell them you will dedicate your LIFE to suing them. That is what is needed to send them a message.

    Did he lose the house?

“Imhof said the officers had other options. They could have yanked Jensen away, she said, or just turned off the water.

The agency’s policy says officers must issue a warning before using a Taser, “except when such warning could provide a tactical advantage to the subject.”

Or they could have, you know, helped fight the fire like decent human beings instead of acting like turds.

@Critter; what other side? The article quotes both parties.

This is how our society is being degraded. Shun individual, independent action. Punish it. Turn us into quivering blobs of jelly, unable to act, waiting for permission, even to save our property or our very lives.

Sounds like the case in England where a man drowned in a 3 ft deep park pond, because the “first responders” were not deep water trained, and forbidden to enter water past their ankles. And they prevented bystanders from “endangering themselves” by going into the water.

Same crap happens where America used to be as well.
