Yeah, I don’t get these people who turn themselves in. Count your lucky stars and keep your mouth shut. Any lawyer would tell you that you never go to the cops and admit you committed a crime because “It’s the right thing to do.” The police are not your friends.

I mean, I guess it’s a desire to show you’re a good and law abiding person, and to show good faith. But the severe naivety is expecting the government to reciprocate. I’m glad it worked out in this case.
