Is that you, Libertopia?

FoxNews:

Small government and free-market capitalism are about to get put to the test in Honduras, where the government has agreed to let an investment group build an experimental city with no taxes on income, capital gains or sales.

Proponents say the tiny, as-yet unnamed town will become a Central American beacon of job creation and investment, by combining secure property rights with minimal government interference.

Just fattening up a lamb for the corrupt socialist government to slaughter.

I shouldn’t say that. The Honduran Government may be the very model of a lawful and limited .gov, though I suppose if that were the case, the experiment would not be needed.

Ah good. I wasn’t the only one that got a “Wow what a nice salt lick, and right in the middle of this feild of clover.” vibe from all this.

In the meantime, more statist propaganda:

“Spanish Lake is a bold and uncompromising documentary focused on economic oppression in the suburb of Spanish Lake, Missouri. Operating without a local government, the lack of community leadership has disastrous effects, including a mass exodus of the white population in the late 1990s. The themes of the film parallel America’s growing political divide, underlying racism, and rise of anti-government sentiment.”

I would think that pretty much any system—including communism—can work on a small scale basis like that (the problem is that human civilization isn’t small scale). I’m guessing it will be a success, especially since the people attracted to such an experimental city (regardless of political system) will undoubtedly be those people who want to live under such a system and want it to work.

Wait a minute, is your post title a reference to T:TM?

TIF? We have a bunch of those in Chicago. Depends on your “campaign contributions” to the Daleys.

I think Havana was also such a place as long as you gave solid gold telephones to Batista and kept Fidel and Che in the mountains.

Given the fact that Honduras has the most corrupt government in the Americas as well as a world record homicide rate, what could possibly go wrong.

Didn’t I read about this in Atlas shrugged? Something about a copper mine….

We already have libertopia and you can even vacation there.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
