James Bond bulletproof

Fun stat: JAMES Bond has survived 4,662 shots fired at him in 22 films – an almost impossible feat, say experts.

  1. SPQR Says:

Hardly impossible, ever see the statistics on how many rounds of small arms ammunition is fired per enemy casualty in the various wars?

Of course, figuring out if the average Bond villain is a better or worse shot than the average Wehrmacht soldier is an exercise left to the reader.

  2. John Smith. Says:

Just think how high it would be if American Cops were shooting at him???

  3. mikee Says:

Many of those bullets were fired from fully automatic firearms. In the movies full auto just about never hits anyone, especially if fired by a bad guy.

So that ups the stats on misses a bit.

  4. JS Thragman Says:

It’s a movie–heightened reality–not real. He’s the star of each movie, he can’t die b/c his death would demand a much more celebrated type of character in subsequent movies. And, despite Craig’s betrayal of style in this role, we all know there’s no star character like Bond!

  5. Guav Says:

    Not bulletproof, just bulletrepellent.

  6. Mu Says:

Numbers of round per kill I found: WW II 5000, Vietnam 50,000, Afghanistan 250,000.
Bond would have to be on “Days of our life” to be in any danger.

  7. CribbageGuy Says:

They keep replacing the Bonds… Lazenby, Connery, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan and Craig

So you have to divide 4662 by 6.

    777 bullets each…

  8. Bram Says:

I’ve seen estimates on Vietnam ammo to kill ratios from 3,000 up to 30,000 to 1. So Bond isn’t that far into the red zone yet.

  9. treefroggy Says:

Technically not quite true. He did “die” from machine gun fire in “You Only Live Twice”.

    Nothing’s impossible for 007!

SPECTRE must be getting their minions from the same cut-rate Discount MinionMart where the Galactic Empire gets their Imperial Stormtroopers.

We should all carry a .25 Beretta.
In the books, occasionally he stopped one, often got the crap beat out of him, once or twice didn’t get the girl, and was so scared he threw up. Also, drove a used car rebuilt from a wreck, and looked like Hoagy Carmichael.

Never mind. You wouldn’t like the books.

  13. nk Says:

I loved the books. I had a .25 Beretta, but it was the double action. I even smoked Sobranies, and lit them with a gunmetal gray lighter, for a while. Ian Fleming did look like Hoagy Carmichael. Never cared for vodka martinis, shaken or stirred.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
