Zimmerman legal case blog

His lawyers have set one up. I’m not sure how common this is or if it’s a good idea. But I’m no lawyer.

As a general rule, cases should be litigated in courtrooms and the most to be said outside is, “Ladies and gentlemen, we appreciate that the First Amendment is our first line of protection but we trust in due process and forgive us for not wanting to make any out of court statements”. You might add, “The charges are scurrilous and a fair jury will find my client not guilty”, but that’s about it.

His lawyer was/is a news personality in the central Florida area (WKMG Channel 6) who was commenting on the case – stalking the courthouse – live on television up to the point he was hired to defend Zimmerman. Do anyone really think this extra publicity is a surprise move?

I never thought Zimmerman was smart. He was dumb chasing down a suspicious character who wasn’t committing a crime (even if he “looked” like he might), and he was double-dumb ignoring his original professional counsel; now he is triple-dumb hiring a low-rate TV legal analyst as an attorney.

If Zimmerman doesn’t go to jail in spite of all this “dumb”, then the prosecutor is either twice as dumb as Zimmerman or has zero case. I vote “both”.

I miss Marsha Clark and Lance Ito. At least that case wasn’t a political football being used to restrict my rights.

That’s only because it was a knife, not an evil fully automatic Glock47 with cop killer bullets.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
